Before blue, there was ao.

Aoshi is the old form of aoi, the Japanese word for blue. For most of Japanese history, green, blue, and gray were all just one category: ao. I named the studio after a word that existed before that line got drawn.

Sales and design, one place

Two teams, two budgets, two people passing files back and forth. I've worked inside that split for years and I don't think the line is real. Both halves can sit in the same place. Think about whether the asset will actually move a deal, then build it.

From multimedia to marketing to sales

I started as a multimedia designer, building web pages and content before I ever built a sales deck. Years inside marketing departments came next, watching design, marketing, and sales all have to talk to each other for anything to actually ship. Moving toward sales enablement wasn't a pivot. It was just where all of that pointed.

A few other businesses on the side

I'm a multimedia designer and an entrepreneur outside of Aoshi too. I won't get into the details here, but running my own things means I think about a project the way an owner does, not just the way a vendor does.

No handoffs, no queue

Send me the information. I design it. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, I fix it, and I keep it current after that. A subscription gives you whoever's free that day. An agency gives you an account manager between you and the work. You get me, and I stay long enough to know your product.

"Yeah, sure. I'm sure I can make this work."

That's what I said the first time I picked up a tool I'd never touched, for a live cybersecurity client, and then shipped something that stood at a booth at a security conference.

Everybody's got their own way of doing this

Everyone here brings something unique. Whether it’s a quirky skill or an offbeat hobby, we I'm not trying to convince you agencies or in-house teams are doing it wrong. I just think too many handoffs make things slower and more expensive than they need to be. I've watched that break enough times to build Aoshi around fixing it. what makes each of us different—it’s what keeps things fresh and exciting.
